What We Offer

A Welcoming Creative Writing Community for All

In an endeavor that's often solitary, Creative Sphere offers community. In our online workshops, we write during our time together and everyone receives feedback in every session. Our workshop process uses prompts to foster exploration of craft, spark imagination and memory, and we write on the spot during the workshop time itself. Then, each member reads aloud their new writing, and receives supportive feedback about what works, what's memorable, and what's strong in their piece. Writers leave each workshop with fresh new writing they've created and feedback they've received, and can decide what is next for that piece of writing.

Our Workshop Method

Creative Sphere Writers Workshop uses the Amherst Writers & Artists™ writing group method, developed by Pat Schneider and described in her book Writing Alone & With Others (Oxford University Press, 2003). AWA workshops are based in what Pat called the "Five Essential Affirmations":

Everyone has a strong, unique voice.
Everyone is born with creative genius.
Writing as an art form belongs to all people, regardless of economic class or education level.
The teaching of craft can be done without damage to a writer’s original voice or artistic self-esteem.
A writer is someone who writes.

Our workshops are designed to help writers find their voices, engage memory and imagination, hone their craft, and write the stories that are waiting to be told.

Interested in publishing your writing? Designed for both aspiring authors and seasoned writers, our manuscript review, project development, and developmental editing services provide valuable support and focused feedback to help you bring your ideas to the page.

In this process, Creative Sphere's founder and facilitator, Susan Josephs, tailors her services to your specific writing needs, offering support at all stages of the writing process.
